IMPACTS OF DIGITAL TRANSFORMATION ON SOCIAL RELATIONSHIPS AND MENTAL HEALTH IN BRAZIL

This study examines the negative impacts of digital transformation on social relationships and mental health in Brazil since 2010, focusing on the use of social networks such as Instagram and WhatsApp. The qualitative research involved semi-structured interviews and online questionnaires to investigate the frequency of social network use and its effects on the daily lives of participants. The results indicate that excessive use of these platforms is associated with psychological problems, such as anxiety, depression, and social isolation, especially among young people and adolescents. Strategies such as limiting usage time and deactivating notifications are adopted by some users to mitigate these negative effects. This study contributes to the debate on the need for public policies and educational interventions to promote healthy social network usage and minimize its impact on mental health.
