THE USE OF TELEDENTISTRY AS A COMMUNICATION TOOL IN CLINICAL PRACTICE: A STUDY WITH DENTISTS IN THE STATE OF PARANÁ

This study aimed to identify the knowledge of professionals and changes in dental practice regarding the use of communication tools for telemonitoring/tele-guidance in patient care in public and private services in Paraná, Brazil, at the outpatient level in 2023 (June-July). The sample consisted of 184 dentists. Professionals answered a questionnaire on the RedCap® platform. Results: Most participants reported having knowledge about remote communication tools in dentistry. The most used tool was a messaging application in both sectors, mainly for scheduling purposes. The private sector reported using them more frequently (p = 0.06) before and during the pandemic. Conclusion: Most dentists use communication tools in clinical practice, but with little knowledge about their regulation. Despite the numerous benefits their use brings to the population, it is still necessary to expand their use in Brazil.
