The COVID-19 pandemic imposes profound transformations in physical activity patterns, establishing sedentary behavior as an unintended consequence of confinement and social distancing measures. This study critically analyzes post-pandemic sedentary behavior and its impacts on weight gain and body composition in young people and adults. The relevance of this investigation is justified by the magnitude of sedentary behavior impacts on the risk of developing chronic non-communicable diseases and the need for evidence-based preventive strategies. The main objective consists of synthesizing scientific knowledge about changes in physical activity patterns, weight alterations, and body composition modifications during and after the pandemic. The methodology is characterized as an integrative review of scientific literature, of qualitative nature and descriptive-analytical approach, with bibliographic survey in scientific databases, covering publications between 2020 and 2025. The results show substantial reduction in physical activity levels, significant increase in sedentary behaviors, generalized weight gain, and unfavorable changes in body composition characterized by increased fat mass and reduced muscle mass. It is concluded that post-pandemic sedentary behavior constitutes a multidetermined phenomenon with lasting consequences, demanding integrated approaches for promoting physical activity and recovering healthy body composition.
