THE IMPACT OF ALPHA LIPOIC ACID IN THE TREATMENT OF PERIPHERAL NERVE INJURIES RESULTING FROM TRAFFIC ACCIDENTS IN THE STATE OF PARÁ TO MINIMIZE PUBLIC COSTS BETWEEN 2018 AND 2022

The objective of this research was to analyze the impact of alpha-lipoic acid in the treatment of peripheral nerve injuries resulting from traffic accidents in the state of Pará, in order to minimize public costs between 2018 and 2022. The research used a survey-type investigation to verify the projected costs of therapeutic protocols involving lipoic acid, aiming to find an effective solution for the victim and the public authorities, as well as the social security costs for drivers who are victims of nerve tissue injuries resulting from car accidents in the State of Pará. The study verified the number of traffic accidents in the State of Pará, the incidence of different types of peripheral nerve injuries resulting from traffic accidents, and the effects on the functional recovery of the affected body segment. Therefore, the results demonstrated that investment in experimental research involving the use of alpha-lipoic acid in the treatment of peripheral nerve tissue injuries in victims of car accidents has proven to be a practical, applicable, low-cost alternative with promising results in different pathologies, especially in accelerating the regeneration process of peripheral nerve tissue. It is concluded that lipoic acid has a promising impact on the care of victims of car accidents with peripheral nerve tissue involvement, being a low-cost option that can positively contribute to the balance of health accounts.
