ENDODONTIC TREATMENT OF TOOTH 36 WITH ROOT RESORPTION IN THE FURCA AREA

A 48-year-old male patient was referred to a private practice for endodontic treatment of tooth 36. Periapical radiographs revealed resorption in the furcation area near the mesial root, as well as atretic canals. After anesthesia, the tooth was isolated, and coronal access was performed with a 1014 diamond bur. Irrigation was performed with 2% chlorhexidine gel and saline. After root canal exploration, electronic odontometry was performed, and the canal was prepared with a Solla Purple #35.04 file. Foraminal patency, extending 1 mm beyond the apical foramen exit, was achieved with a Solla Collors 16/02 Glide Path file. The root canal system was obturated using the single-cone technique, Odous de Deus FMEL, combined with Bio-C Sealer. There was leakage of bioceramic cement into the cervical furcation region up to the middle third of the mesial root. It is concluded that endodontic treatment of teeth with external resorption requires correct diagnosis to obtain adequate planning and treatment, determining a more favorable prognosis.
