INTERORGANIZATIONAL RELATIONSHIPS IN THE TEXTILE PRODUCTION CHAIN: A REGIONAL STUDY WITH SERVICE PROVIDERS

This study examines factors that influence the maintenance of interorganizational relationships within the textile production chain in Santa Catarina, based on the perception of service providers. Grounded in interorganizational network theory, the research explores how agents within the production chain share resources and respond to shock and uncertainty events, linking these dynamics to studies on firm–environment relationships. The analysis encompasses dimensions such as trust, dependence, synergy, and resilience, which sustain partnership continuity. The quantitative study was conducted with 53 service providers and employed Exploratory Factor Analysis to identify the determining factors of these relationships. The results reveal four main dimensions, namely Resilience, Synergy, Conformity, and Trust, which together explain 74.85% of the data variance, with Resilience accounting for 37.71% and Synergy for 13.98%. These findings challenge the traditional view that norms and trust alone are sufficient to sustain robust networks, showing that the ability to learn from crises and adapt to unstable contexts strengthens interorganizational ties. It is concluded that resilience plays a central role in sustaining post-crisis networks, while synergy reinforces cooperation and resource optimization. The study contributes to understanding the mechanisms that maintain the cohesion of production networks and provides managerial insights for strengthening partnerships in high-uncertainty environments.
