Abstract

The article explores the origins and prospects of Green Hydrogen, tracing the historical interest in hydrogen as an energy carrier and its recent rediscovery under new colors (Green Hydrogen). It examines the barriers to its implementation as an instrument of energy transition, as well as its potential to reduce emissions and promote the decarbonization of the global economic model, essential measures to address the current climate and environmental crisis. The study adopts a descriptive and qualitative research methodology, grounded in legal-theoretical premises and a specialized body of literature that includes scientific works, legal norms, judicial precedents, and technical reports. The article is divided into two sections, each focusing on a distinct dimension, historical and prospective, of Green Hydrogen’s integration into the global energy matrix, explaining both the origins of interest and the challenges of its consolidation within the energy transition process.
